The heart of this matter is that we try to bring God on our level when clearly he is not we can't comprehend an All powerful All knowing & immortal God who's always been here so we try to humanize him when he clearly says my ways are not your ways & My thoughts are not your thoughts for so as heavens are higher than the earth so are My thoughts higher than yours so God's jealousy & anger are not like ours at all it's a perfect & righteous anger & jealousy

I think one reason why so many non-Christians have a problem with the idea of God's jealousy is because they think that jealousy is always a bad thing. So the thought of God being jealous doesn't make sense to them.

But even in human relationships jealousy isn't always a bad thing. For example, if a husband's wife is unfaithful to him with another man, it is right for the husband to be jealous of the other man.

The problem that many have with God's jealousy is similar to the problem many have with God's anger. And with anger too, one reason for the problem is that many think of anger as always a bad thing, which it isn't. If someone does something evil, it is quite right to feel angry about it.

You really have to look at jealousy with love. When you love someone with all your heart, you want them to love you back the same way. God showed me this kind of love a long time ago, jealousy is actually cute, wonderful. God deserves us to love Him only. And his jealousy ensures that we'll never be lost from His grip. That and His love. He loves us with a jealous love, really think about that, don't you want to be loved by someone more than anyone else? God loves us with that kind of love. Mindyou he loves us all the same, but it's still that kind of love. Doesn't it stand to reason that He should want the same kind of love back? And doesn't it seem fair to give it to him? I think so. Jealousy is a Form Of Love. That's a #1 thing. ♥

DEFINITIONS are important, as well as understanding God's attributes and characteristics as mentioned within the context of the passage.

Some people use jealousy in the same way that they use envious, so they think it means that to be jealous is to see something or someone that you want but don't have in the possession of someone else and then get upset or angry at the other person and maybe even want to harm them to get it because of your dissatisfaction. Being that God owns everything, this cannot be the way to think of God's jealousy. God's jealousy has to be his possessiveness and great care for what he already owns and has staked special claim of out of love that causes him to be grieved at his people when they commit idolatry enough to discipline them and furiously angry at the idol enough to destroy it. This is not God being needy or throwing a tantrum in dissatisfaction. This is God showing the maximal extent of his love to make sure that his objects of love are not eternally punished and left unsatisfied forever due to being separated from him, having preferred idols over him. Our sin nature makes us weak and fickle to remain loyally in love with God on our own, so God must be jealous over us continually to make sure we don't stupidly run off or vulnerably get snatched away from him, our SOURCE. So it's almost like Yahweh is a Good Shepherd and we are feeble sheep.

Anyone disgusted with such a beautiful and awesome description of God as this needs to read their Bible more and examine whether they really know their self and know and love God rather than idols. Logically, what's to be jealous over if it is not treasured, and why should one be repelled by being treasured by one who already owns everything and doesn't need you but wants you enough to destroy anyone and anything that tries to lure you away from his holy, loving presence to your destruction?

People prefer other things with lack of regard to God so that's why they don't like the truth of God's jealousy they don't want to belong to Him and that's foolishness
