How To Dress for Warm Weather | Styling Tips | Carla Rockmore

Summer is HOT in Dallas. It has perplexed me and vexed me for 12 years now. I think good style is all about layering and playing with different proportions. How do you do that when everything you put on feels like a life preserver in a microwave? Summer is when I lean into accessories and accoutrements in a big way. Think jewelry, belts, hats, vests, bags and fun shoes. Anything to add interest and excitement to simple, cool and lightweight clothing

Never underestimate a wide knit cardigan too. Feels very chic, relaxed, and doesn’t add too much in terms of warmth in hot weather!!

Natural fiber, avoid poly, I always put my head under the sink and rock the wet look. The wetter I keep my hair the cooler I feel throughout the day.

Fabric choices too is an old trick. I like to cover up more because i have irish skin in the south that burns and freckles super easy and im a little vain about my appearance- and cautious of skin cancer because its an experience when not if for my completion. Light cotton, linen, bamboo textitle, and merino wool are great. I avoid chiffon and 100 percent polyester because the plastic in the clothing feels and smell pretty funky in 95 degree humidity and cause exess sweat.
