Filmed at the Church of St Giles Cripplegate in the City of London in February 2022, the Royal Choral Society sing 'In meines Herzens Grunde' from Bach's St John Passion, conducted by Richard Cooke, accompanied by organist Richard Pearce. Written in 1724, Bach's sacred masterpiece was not performed in the UK until 1872, when it was premiered under the baton of Royal Choral Society conductor Sir Joseph Barnby.

The Royal Choral Society has been performing the choral masterpieces ever since its formation for the opening of the Royal Albert Hall in 1871, including the UK premières of Verdi’s Requiem in 1875, and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater in 1884, both concerts conducted by their composers.
