"Ah...your waters have broken." Literally nothing could make Mary shout in a panic.

Aside from Matthew and Henry, Mary was only her true self with Anna. Their bond is so beautiful and strong.

i've always loved the fact that at the beginning of the show a man died in Lady Mary's bed and at the end of it a baby is born in her bed.

I love the subtle significance of Mary and Anna switching roles during the birth. Lady Mary undressing and caring for Anna really shows her care.

Quite frankly, after asking Anna to cart a deadman across the castle to avoid a scandal, Mary owed Anna the world.

I really love how the whole house pulls together for Anna & John when she goes into labour. The roles are completely reversed, the master of the house brings in the champagne himself for his employees, Mary was instrumental in every step of Anna's pregnancy, including the post-birth childcare, it was such a nice reminder that they're genuine people who care deeply for their extended family.

The way Cora zoned in on that baby in Anna's arms "I dont care. I have an honorary Grandbaby" 🤣🤣😍😍

I'm surprised that the scene where Anna is afraid she's having a miscarriage isn't included. It's one of my favorite scenes

Anna was absolutely the sweetest person on the show, rivaled only by Cora. It drove me mad how consistently the Bates were set up for tragedy.

As snobbish as Mary can be, I love the way she always supported and looked out for Anna ❤️

The fact that Mary shows more affection towards Anna in a day than Edith will ever receive from Mary in a lifetime.

I think my favorite thing about the whole pamuk thing was that Mary went to Anna for help and she listened when Anna told her she needed to go get Cora and how clever Anna was about Cora being the one to go to

I laughed at Mary's dismissal of the very idea that her helping Anna in labor being anything other than exactly what should be done. Cause when the cards are down nothing mattered but seeing a laboring mother to comfort and safety.

The whole plot with Mr Green also shows how Mary cares after Anna, she made everything to help her, she asked Tony to fire Mr Green without betraying Anna's secret, she asked her father to take Thomas instead of Bates to let him support Anna, she was not afraid of scandal to support Bates and Anna during the trial after Greene's death ...

As the great saying goes, "The way a person treats their inferiors that reveals the most about their character, not their peers or superiors." And Mary has this in spades.

"Ah. Your waters have broken. Right." So calm and collected.

I love that Anna knows when something is wrong and stays behind to ask Mary if she's ok. Mary can't bare to be upset in front of her mother or even her father, as she thinks they might see her as a hopeless case - which of course they don't - but that is what expectations can do to someone in her situation. On the other hand, Mary feels she can tell Anna anything, because she will not judge her nor would she tell anyone else.

I love their relationship. Honestly, the whole family was absolutely wonderful to their whole staff. Lord Crawley paying for Mrs. Patmore’s surgery shows me he raised his kids right.

Honestly, the friendship between Anna and Mary is one of my favourite things about the show. I love that Mary never really sees Anna as a maid, or a servant, or whatever, but as a friend and her closest confidante. Anna is the one person who probably knows Mary the best and Mary isn’t afraid to bring down her walls in front of her. I think this is really shown during the scene with Mr Pamuk. Mary’s just had a man die in her bed and the first person she thinks of to go to for help is Anna. Don’t get me wrong, Mary had her faults, but the genuine compassion she had for the staff is one of the things that makes her my favourite character.
