Heel Squeaks: out of frustration I took my shoe and hit it on my marble countertops in the kitchen holding the toe of the shoe and slapping the heel the bottom of the sole onto the marble countertop and I did it about 10 times and I tried it on and walked and it was much better but still a little squeaky so I did it again and did it a little more forcefully and now the squeak is gone so if that helps somebody out w/ a squeaky heel ~ more power to you!

You say you also have a method for when the sole is glued in, and then you never said what it is?... Could you elaborate, please? Thanks!

Thank you so much! The baby powder and the paper towels did the trick! I used both!

Great video. I bought a pair of Nike Pegasus for $80 in March (8-9 months ago) and they’ve had a squeak for a lot of that time, probably at least 3/4 months. I’ll have to try those methods out. I don’t want to throw them away until I have to. They’re about to have a hole worn through the left foot — when that happens I may waterproof them with new inserts and tarp material, something like that.

My shoes were driving me insane. Powder under the removable inner sole worked. Thanks!

Thank you! I won’t go into detail about where the squeak was coming from, but a few swipes of the area inside the shoe with sandpaper and no more squeaking! Now I can wear the Skecher Street Cleats that I bought 3 years ago 😆😆

My shoes (6 months old..) squeak loudly on office and home tiles!
Heck inside my car operating the clutch and brakes all I can hear in my dashcam videos are loud squeaks😅.. will try the sand paper method. Any idea what grit would be good?

I bought Nike revolution 6 and it's a terribly squeaky shoe.
The coconut oil tip worked excellently. It stopped the squeakiness for a good 8 months. Now I'll reapply it.

In the past I had tried the baby powder solution, which only worked temporarily (for maybe 2-5 days at a time).

I have hard plastic orthotics. The instep edge rubbed against that side of my faux leather shoe. Plastic against plastic = squeak. So I taped a strip of paper towel on that edge and it worked. However, it will eventually tear so I need alternate plans. Would roughing up the smooth faux leather make it less squeaky when rubbed by the orthotic> Would masking tape on the edge of the orthotic stop the squeak? Have no tape at the moment. Other suggestions welcome!

I hate to say you're wrong, but I came here because I was looking for a reason my BRAND NEW SHOES squeak, ONLY on the floors at work, and I think it has to do with the floors, because it's ONLY on those specific floors, and it's LOUD and irritating. I am disinclined to try rubbing the "slickness" off, because they're "non-slip" shoes, and this should in fact NOT be slick. Also, having to rub my shoes every time, before going into work and before leaving work (or actually, having to do it at ALL, since I'm already loaded down with work stuff as is). So, I'm pretty sure this is a different issue not covered in your video.

I did all of the things you said, my boot/shie squeaks without the inner sole inside it and if i just bend it.
by the sound and feel of friction/vibration it seems the sound is coming from inside the thick rubber sole. Im not gonna throw them away just because of a squeak, at least not yet, but this is bothersome.

Nothing worked😢 I bought these practically new docs on FB Marketplace and quickly realized why. I’ve worn them for a year (not super often because of the squeak) but definitely long enough that they’re sufficiently broken in. The squeak is more of a pop, coming from 1 sole. Tried all the methods - even another one I read about poking holes in the rubber soles - nada. Contacted Dr. Martens but they won’t do anything without proof of purchase so I guess I have cute but loud and annoying shoes.
