Does VW's new coupe-SUV crossover have a Taigo in the tank?
Let CarGurus help you find your next car:

Our dedicated SUV car review playlist

There's no shortage of supermini-sized SUVs on offer in the market at present, and now, there's one more. The new Volkswagen Taigo shares much with the company's other umpteen small SUVs, including the T-Cross and T-Roc, only this time, it has a sleeker coupe-like roofline to dial up the sexiness.

The question is, style aside, how does the Taigo perform? Rebecca Jackson finds out in this CarGurus UK video review, as she assesses the car on performance, handling, technology, quality, practicality and more.

My partner has just bought this exact model and specification (1.5 auto R-Line), in white with black roof to replace a heavy leaking 16 plate diesel Focus. I have to say the ride quality, road noise and performance of the engine is outstanding. Very sprightly car. Loads of kit included and genuinely such a relaxing easy car to drive on a long journey. Very impressive and I'm hard to please with cars. Don't believe all you read.

Hello friends,
i own one just about 3 weeks. 1.0 110hp DSG Style version. As far as i have driven this car, it is super powerful for 1 liter, no need to get 1.5, it has awesome response, riding is smooth and sporty, steering as said on the video has not that informative feedback back you don’t really going to race with this car. It steers like a train, steady and very nice feeling. About interior, my Style version has soft plastic everywhere except door panels. In general it is the interior of every new audi and vw. Curved etc. Braking is impressive as from 100-0 needs 35meters. Build quality is like a T-Roc and it really puts a smile on your face while looking at it. For everyday car it is more than enough, spacious and sport sexy looking. Better than TCross and more interesting than TRoc i think.

Just bought a Taigo, and thankfully, it has the good auld physical knobs for AC, heating, fans etc. I know they look a little 90's in comparison to the fancy digital displays above them, but my world are they better for user experience.

just bought the 1.0 litre TSI R line, after having a 2.0 VW Scirocco TDI...worth every penny comes with plenty of kit, nice and sleek and the ride is so comfortable and the power from such a small engine has a nice grunt... don't read all the rubbish these cars are lovely...very impressed

Call those cars superminis is a bit understatement, as that nowadays basically means particular car is just about the perfect size.

The Ford Puma was/is on a serious like no idea waiting list. The VW Tiago was available. Just driven my wife’s car to a gig, four hour round trip and it was ace. Yeah it’s the 1.5 R Line. Nippy as ya like, sat on the motorway with the adaptive cruise making life real easy. So far no complaints. Oh goes around corners very nicely.

That interior quality in a 30k motor is unforgivable 😮

I don't get VW, isn't the reason for buying a VW build quality yet it seems over the last few years they have cut corners too much leaving what reason to by VW? zero in my case.

New rule: Any "crossover" that doesn't offer AWD should just be called a 'tall hatchback'.

God, I hate crossovers so much.

So now Skoda need to do what they did with the Kamiq to the T-Cross and make a plusher but cheaper Skoda version of the Taigo. Think Kamiq interior, with rear end like the Enyaq coupe and a Scala or Fabia front end. It's amazing what VW Group can do with the MQB A0 platform.

Love the colour coordination Rebecca. Had a test drive of this, Puma and T Roc last week. Taigo felt cheap and not worthy of a close to £30k cost. Of the 3 it had the best ride, Puma best handling and T Roc in middle.

Does the Taigo have a different dashboard in the UK? Because at least here in Sweden the interior has the same soft materials as the Polo - on the upper part.

I like the look of it especially in that R-line spec but £29k with an interior quality like that? I’ll stick with my Mazda CX-30 thanks

It even sounded tinny and less than solid when she closed the door at the end. Has really put me off getting one for my next car. Looks great but too many negatives for me to get one.

I have a 2021 Arteon and the air con controls are the same but I have no problems operating them.

In Germany basic model now is €19200 only, with cash only discount. Is it worth it?
