Fun Fact: An European team finishing 3rd in the World Cup had a bad luck when it comes to the next year's Euro.
Poland in 1984, France in 1988, Italy in 1992, Sweden in 1996, Croatia in 2000, Turkey in 2004, and the Netherlands in 2016 all failed to even qualify for the tournament after came 3rd in the previous World Cup. Belgium in 2020 only managed to reach the quarterfinal.
For Croatia's case, as they did the same thing in 2022, I think it should be classified as the honorable mentions to demonstrate how bad luck this team were in the Euros after having a good World Cup run by finishing 3rd.

Edit: Germany reached 2008 Final and 2012 Semifinal after finishing 3rd in 2006 and 2010 World Cups. Also, Croatia crashed out in the Euro 2024 group stage, so I think they should deserve this "curse".

I'm Croatian and a fan of our team and while the situation is serious and complicated, having seen our team get out of many situations even more difficult than this one I still hope and believe we can get out of the group and will continue to believe until I'm proven (if I'm proven) otherwise. Italy is strong, but have a history of bottling it against (on paper) weaker opposition (they failed to qualify for the last two WCs). So I hope on Monday we will see "that" Italy, not the holding European champion Italy. Hopefully it will be an all or nothing game for Croatia and Croatia will win all.
