I was taught in school the same stuff, but I always questioned it. It really didn't make sense to me. Once I became a believer I began to understand what the truth was about a lot of things.

The animals being buried while mating, eating, etc. reminds me of the verses about eating, drinking, and being merry. Sudden destruction came to these wicked and perverse societies especially as was the case in Noah's day. The Bible says it will be like the days of Noah in the end times where people were doing the same things and just as it was at that time sudden destruction will come upon them...to them seemingly without warning. Not because there was no warning but rather because they chose instead to ignore the warnings they were given. Jesus IS going to return and the world will not be ready. Be ye ready!

If every fish would fossilise you'd find infinite fish all over the place. No, instead, fossilization events are very rare and only contain animals or plants that have been somehow engulfed by the sand in for example a mudslide. The anaerobic circumstances and the pressure keep the bones long enough intact for that layer of sediment to be impressed with it's form. It is this impression that we see, although transformed by geological processes.

As someone who works with cement and concrete I know that these materials are all natural, mostly sand, limestone, clay ect. Think how hard it would be to create a rock... we do it everyday.

In the 1990's a fossilized cowboy boot was found in the El Paso, TX area. UTEP carbon dated it at around (if I remember correctly) 10-20, 000 years old. The CEO of Tony Lama Boots, headquartered in El Paso, identified it as being made in 1957.

When I was a kid, fossils were in their 40's.
As I got older, they were in their 50's. Then 60's.

Now that I'm closer to that age, I think they're in their 90's.

When I hit 85, I'll probably decide fossils are in their 120's.

I work in the oil industry and have drilled in many places in the world. Fossils reduce in complexity as you drill deeper. Yes I do understand that only small fossils are visible in drill cuttings .. but we use paleontologists to identify the payzone with mapping and identifying the periods where we drill into. I am a Christian and I believe in creation. But I am not going to deny facts into my life. I merely dismiss things to not enough information or complexity. Unfortunately on both sides of the argument there are "childish" behaviors of denial.

I am reminded of that foul Egyptoligist Hawass. It could only happen the way he says. Most archeologists are the same. As a kid we collected fossils by the bucket. We lived at the end of a glacier. What was odd to me, was an odd happening. We had a devastating house fire. Our buckets of fossils were still in the attic which was our play area. Very old home 16 foot ceilings. After the fire we dug through the rubble. Not a SINGLE fossill survived. Not one. We were adults when the house burned. My theory was they were created by water & destryed by fire

I recently saw a video of a find of WWII planes that had made an emergency landing in I think it was Greenland, and were buried by ice and snow. There were as many as 125, 000 layers of ice core over the plane when they pulled the ice core. But that was only 50ish years ago, so if an ice layer is an annual event, how did those planes have 125, 000 layers over them with only 50 years of time from when they were buried? I'm thinking that scientists don't really know how long something has been buried by ice core layers.

I studied Earth Sciences at the University of Toronto back in the 1980's. I clearly remember one student on a geology field trip telling me in confidence that the rock layers were not hundreds of millions of years old, but he'd answer the questions in the exam the way they wanted him to. I wasn't sure what to make of his conundrum, but I didn't dismiss his beliefs out of hand. About 15 years later, I became a baptized Christian and my world view has also completely changed...for the BETTER.

The Argonne Labs in Illinois have done a project to prove how long it takes to make coal. Took then three weeks they claimed to do it with vegetable matter, using heat and pressure.

Flume experiments in Australia have been run and accurately replicate what is seen in nature, fossils included. All by hydrological sorting with moving water and a steady supply of sediment. Not a thing by steady static water build-up or dry deposits.
