Seal Stuck in Cargo Net
Показать описание
We are not sure what this white synthetic net had been used for. Maybe it was used to secure cargo? Maybe it fell over board by accident or it was discarded from one of the many vessels passing through our waters? Synthetic fibers do not break down easily, it takes decades or even longer. And when it does, it will dissolve into microplastics, polluting the ocean for generations. Marine animals like this seal do not have decades. If he can’t free himself, the net will tighten, strangling him over time. Every piece of plastic or net left in the ocean can be a death trap.
