Seal Stuck In Plastic Bag

Common plastic household rubbish can have the same devastating impact as fishing nets and fishing line. Once it gets into the ocean or anywhere else into nature, any kind of animal can be the unlucky one to deal with the consequences of somebody's careless negligence or indifference. It's hard to imagine how much pain a seemingly harmless piece of plastic can cause. This thin bag of clear plastic would have soon started to cut into the seal's neck. It does not matter that it breaks easily on impact, the seal's growth is not fast enough to tear it apart. Instead, it would have started to feel uncomfortable, then it would have cut the pup, and eventually it would have taken it's life. We have shown over and over again how even a few grams of plastic can kill even big animals. 🦭

That looked like the bags that cereal comes in. I've had many a struggle with trying to open those, and I have hands ... I've almost had to use my teeth or scissors at times, as they are very durable and there's almost NO give to them! I can't imagine being stuck IN one like this poor girl ... DEFINITELY would've been a death sentence. Thank you for getting her just in time, but then, THAT is what the OCN team is ALL about! HEROES!!!

The plastic was so tight around her neck, it left a mark in the fur when you cut it off. Thank you for that. Bringing the big net with the long handle when the seals are so near the water is a great idea as it gives you added reach to net them before they go in the ocean. Well done guys!!
