Measuring and improving platform maturity & operational readiness | PlatformCon 2023

Engineering leaders need frameworks to assess the health of their ecosystem and align their organizations around improving them. Three ways to understand how you’re doing is to define and measure development maturity, operational readiness, and operational maturity. From there, engineering leaders can set initiatives to improve them over time and create a culture of ownership and reliability.

During this talk I’ll go over what development maturity, operational readiness, and operational maturity are, as well as the key similarities and differences between them. I’ll highlight the importance of measuring them to assess the health of existing platforms and give examples of how to measure each one using existing Cortex customers. I’ll bring it all together with tactics for creating team wide initiatives in order to really create a culture of reliability and ownership.
