Cassava never killed anyone in Africa. We have the poisonous one that no one plant them. We know and don’t eat that one. But normal cassava is so delicious.

I live in Jamaica and there are two types of cassava, the bitter and the sweet. The bitter one is toxic but is safe to eat once it is grated and washed thoroughly with water. It can be used to to make bammies. The sweet cassava is non toxic and very safe to eat.

Growing up in the Philippines, we eat cassava and even cook the leaves as a vegetable, it is one of our staple food, aside from sweet potatoes and rice. We even make a dessert out of it.

Yes, cassava can be poisonous.
In Jamaica there are two types ( bitter & sweet). The bitter is poisonous but can be eaten if prepared a special way. My grandmother was a farmer and planted both types. It is also said that the soil type determined sweet or bitter
outcome. 🇯🇲

I have been eating cassava since I was born and yet I am still alive. My parents even grow cassava in our village. Cassava is not a dangerous food at all. However, not all the types of cassava are good for cooking. Some need to be manufactured before eating. A person who died after eating cassava was probably allergic or ate the wrong type of cassava.
Thank you for this video.
