Four years in the making, this groundbreaking two-part series follows the world’s largest Maritime Archaeological Expedition as it explores the depths of the Black Sea. Led by chief scientist Jon Adams, the team uses cutting-edge remote survey vehicles to scan 2km beneath the surface, uncovering over 70 shipwrecks astonishingly preserved in oxygen-deprived waters. From the most intact Roman vessel ever found to the world’s only preserved Greek warship, these discoveries rewrite history.

As a Canadian diver living on Lake Ontario I have been incredibly lucky to be able to visit the wrecks I have done dives on. The fresh water keeps our wrecks in incredible shape as well but I noticed that we have plant life etc covering a lot of our wrecks etc that you dont get in the Black Sea. Fantastic program and incredible footage. Well worth the watch and saved and you have a brand new subscriber.

As a diver, the sight of the 95m wreck with the light suspended above it and the ROV hovering next to it is one of the best diving videos I have ever seen. Absolutely fantastic!

This is probably the best documentary I’ve viewed since Jacque Cousteau when we were kids. Please keep up the great human historic reality work.

Superbly done, a big round of applause to all the technicians whose work made the expedition possible.

It’s unbelievable that these ships are still intact after thousands of years at the bottom of the sea! It’s like a time machine frozen underwater. I used to think that the deep sea was full of scary mysteries, but who would have thought it contained such a treasure trove of history? Seeing the details on the ships that are still so clear gives me goosebumps. It’s amazing!

Archaeology's real frontier is underwater, all the way out to the edge of the continental shelves worldwide. There's as much out there to be found as all of the discoveries on land thus far made, and probably more. This expedition was a colossal success. Well done, indeed!

I wish I’d been there with y’all, witnessing that time “when Plato was alive”. Your documentary made this 72 old lady - growing up with Latin and Ancient Greek - very, very happy. ❤

Brilliant documentary. Good old exciting discoveries and science, with none of the modern "reality tv" hype and overdone drama. The dedication of the archaeologists, technicians and sailors is incredible.

This is a great documentary on the history of the Black Sea. There’s so much more to be learned from the findings at the bottom of once lake/ sea. I myself can’t wait or even imagine what we will find that’s still preserved that may be found in the future!
