Folks! Charts is coming tomorrow - final numbers for the four-day weekend don't come in until today. Don't worry, I'll have a full breakdown on The Little Mermaid and everything else in the morning. In the meantime, enjoy this look at lots of mediocre movies!

In my personal opinion, Cinderella is the best remake that Disney has made thus far. It managed to create it's own story and style, a film that stood on its own without relying heavily on nostalgia, and gave new depth to familiar characters especially the prince. If Jane Austen was a filmmaker, Cinderella remake is exactly how i'd imagine if she wrote and directed it. Everyone was absolutely brilliant in their roles and it's probably the only Disney remake that i can rewatch over and over again

Glenn Close was such pitch perfect casting at the time for 101 Dalmatians. She looked like she had a ball.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Dan Murrell and his soul for it must be dead inside after watching all these Disney LA Remakes.

Of course, Dan not only ranks the movies, he ranks the Disney logos. That is exactly the type of bonus flare that makes Dan's takes the best!

Fun fact for Mulan's opening credit logo: the castle is actually the Shanghai Disneyland castle instead of the Disney World Cinderella's Castle

Christopher Robin is an incredibly heart-warming and charming movie! I know it didn't qualify based on Dan's criteria, but I just had to say it!

"Cinderella" will always be my favorite of the live action adaptations. Not only is it a great tribute to the original movie's concept artist, Mary Blair, and her iconic pastel art style, but it also makes the story feels so much more refreshing and full than its animated predecessor. Plus, Lily James (now next to Halle's Ariel) is easily the best cast of the Disney princess' and I'm glad her beautiful singing voice gets some moments featured as well.

Dan you explaining the Lady & The Tramp scene in live action was HILARIOUS.

Calling Sleeping Beauty and Little Mermaid draws with their live-action counterparts legitimately hurt my soul. Other than that, great video, Dan.

Jungle Book 📚 taking the top spot is my personal validation of this movie’s excellence. Cinderella coming in second gives me an excuse to finally check this one out. Thanx Dan, the remaining all fell in pretty respectable order (to my own).

I love that you used a Weird Al analogy to compare the Lion Kings.

Mulan is one of those things where Disney tried to appease multiple audiences and ended up pleasing no one. The criticism out of China for the original was that Mulan is supposed to be a larger than life super hero. "Brains over brawn" was not appreciated by those audiences. So Disney tried to return her supernatural aspect in the remake. I'd say they tried to have character growth for her still in having her overcome a mental hurdle to allow herself to use her abilities. This is represented by the contrast with the witch character Xianniang. But I think this didn't end up appreciated as much by western audiences. And in the end, the film still wasn't authentic enough for Chinese audiences so it wasn't received well in China.

Here's my recommendation for how to get the Scuttlebutt song out of your head. Listen to Iago's songs from the Aladdin sequel, The Return of Jafar. Those songs are “I’m Looking out for Me” and “Forget About Love”.

I rewatched Robin Hood recently and realized Disney hasn't done a remake yet. Since putting that thought out into the universe I've been waiting with apprehension for an announcement

Your take on Mermaid...no way. I think you'll come back a few years from now and say, "Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking back in 2023"

101 Dalmatians was always pretty fun for me. It would be way higher than Lady and the Tramp, Lion King and Beauty and the Beast on my list.

OMG the quick cut from Lady & the Tramp to the "I wish you didn't smoke weed" dog ad fucking killed me

"Puppies" (101 Dalmatians) as my daughter called it, was a mainstay in our house for about 2 years when she was 3-4 years old. Every night near bedtime she'd run into my dad's room and request Puppies and they'd watch it wherever it left off from the last viewing for a good 15-20 min. I actually thought it might rank higher, solely from Glenn Close!
