The Sorcerers Apprentice is, imo, the most underrated live action Disney film

this list made me realize ewan mcgregor has participated in at least 3 live action remakes: pinocchio, christopher robin, and beauty and the beast

Omg Adam pronouncing “book” is like the best thing since hearing Frank Welker as Fred in Scooby Doo pronounce “treasure”

The best disney live action is still worse than every animated version. They should have just stayed with animation.

"Adapted for modern audiences". 🤢🤢
I think it actually means "butchered for Twitter 'likes'".

1994 The Jungle Book. I grew up with this movie and I love it to pieces and I really wish there was a DVD release.

Seriously this list is out of order. I personally don't agree

when you hear "some welcome thematic updates" as a praise for a remake you know your about to watch a big pile of something

Just gotta say that normally I’m right with you guys on your lists, but never have I disagreed with one of your lists more than this one! My list would be very different. It’s always so very interesting to see how much beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

Jon Favreau is arguably one of the most underrated directors.

And this is why I love the Jungle Book with Jason Scott Lee in it, since that one is my personal favorite, along with Pete’s Dragon and few on this list.

As someone who has disliked most of the Disney live action remakes, I’m glad Dumbo didn’t place so low, that was one of the few ones I actually liked.

Peter Pan and Wendy should be at 23.
Pinocchio 2022 is a crime against creative humanity but at least watchable.
I couldn't get past the 15 minute mark of PPAW.

Doesn't really count as its not Disney, but Hook (1991) is up there for me

Some takes:

I've been trying to see the live action "Lady & the Tramp" since it came out. The original animated is my #1 favorite DAM so I really wanted to. Unfortunately, we don't have Disney+, it hasn't been released on DVD, so I'm SOL.

My favorite thing about the LA "Mulan" IS the fact that there is no Eddie Murphy. I've always felt him very much a one-note character (tell me the difference between his Mushu, Donkey, and Axel Foley). There was no place for him in the new one, and I, for one, loved the improvement.

My ONLY complaint about the LA "Lion King" was the time dedicated to the feather. Having it rolled in poop was really unnecessary; that entire part could have been cut with no loss of story. I thought the rest was gorgeous & well done.

Two words for the LA "Aladdin": Hot Jafar. (Sorry, but I watched this with 2 teenage girls & I regressed.) Oh, and "Speechless" ranks among one of my favorite Disney songs.

Generally, I loved the LA "Dumbo", but I hated the ending. Did they really think that dumping two elephants who were raised in captivity out in the wild to fend for themselves was a GOOD idea?

I have a complicated view of the LA "Pete's Dragon". My younger brother was a little boy of 5 when the original LA/animated one came out. His name was Peter, so the movie resonated with him. I would sing "Candle On the Water" to him at bedtime (I was 8 years older). He died of suicide at age 21. I would like to think that he would also enjoy the new one. All I know is I cried through the whole movie thinking about it.

How can a sequel be a "remake" if there never was an original?
Namely Dalmations, Maleficent and Alice.

I'm not sure about 101 Dalmations and some others, as I either haven't seen them or it's been too long to remember.
But particularly Maleficent, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Cruella and Alice in Wonderland weren't even "remakes" themselves but live-action re-imaginations of the core story. The rest were technically re-imaginations as well but they were close enough to the original to count as "remakes".
