For conditional probability, the better symbolic representation is P(A/B) or P(B/A). For school students, the symbol that you are using might be confusing ; they might think that it is a fraction of two events which is never true.

The general notation is P(A|B) and not really P(A/B) but what you say may be also used.

Simply it can be read as " P of A given B " or vice-versa
