This video really shows how uneven the playing field is in motocross. Imagine if you got to just fly in and your mechanic had everything ready while you rest at a 5 star hotel. But this is what makes motocross awesome, the die hard lifestyle. This video was inspiring 🤘

Motocross is a brutal sport. Back when I was racing and at my peak (such as it was), I would have given EVERYTHING, ANYTHING, to be as good as you are. I just hit a wall in my progression and couldn’t get any faster…. I sure tried, which just equaled a lot of crashing and injuries until I finally had enough and gave it up. I raced my last motocross race in 1989. I still miss it today!
I guess my point is that I for one, really appreciate your effort and fight to race the Nationals. Anyone who can ever qualify for a National (especially on a two stroke against the modern four strokes.

Speaking as someone who’s done something similar in pro roadracing about 20 years ago, I was surprised to see you make it to every race, but I wasn’t surprised to see how the driving seemed to affect your performance on the track. I’m sure you still got it tho. Next time, get some bike and gear transportation and fly to the races 😉

Dude waking up feeling like that at the wick would have sucked... that track will beat down the freshest of riders. I'll never forget an old interview with Doug Henry. they asked him "Southwick is coming up next weekend it's a really demanding track, a lot of riders are worried about the heat forcast, how are you feeling about it?" and without skipping a beat he goes "oh I love racing there! (Big smile) the sand is great, you can just hold it wide open!"
