In this video I talk about the Canon EOS R, their new full frame mirrorless camera. Will I be dumping my 1DXMKII anytime soon for a new EOS R system? Watch the video and find out.

Canon introduced a pretty decent new RF lens lineup that's optimized for the EOS R system. I'm especially excited for the new RF 28-70mm f/2. And their new lenses all have a special new lens ring.

Canon also released a bunch of new lens mount adapters that all perform very vital functions for either utilizing older Canon glass or getting even more out of the new RF glass.

SONY has been leading the pack in full frame mirrorless with the A7III, A7RIII and A9. Nikon recently released the Z6 and Z7 and Canon finally joined the party with the EOS R.

I think Fuji will just keep on doing APS-C cameras. There's no real reason to get into full-frame if they get good image quality from their existing sensor size and lenses. They dont need to be everything to everyone, and as long as people want to buy smaller APS-C cameras, they have a market.

Great video. Thank you for the info and thoughts! I'm looking forward to the EOS R. I'm happy with the M6 as a mirrorless, and use 5D3 as FF. EOS R looks beautiful and sounds like a great camera.

`What do you mean "even" Fuji?

Fuji doesn't need to do full frame. I think they're one of the smarter companies around right now, especially considering the latest offerings from the big guns. The xt3 is absolutely brilliant. I have yet to use a Fuji and think to myself, "geez, if this was only full frame I could take better pictures"

Hmm...I like the control ring and drop-in filter adapter, and I think the slider switch on the back is a progressive feature, but Canon and Nikon really had to go in with their studs on this, and neither has. Canon especially is leaving basic boxes unticked. It's like you said Adam, FF has been out for a decade. I've personally been shooting FF since 2013 with great results. This Canon offering is clearly going to take 3 or 4 years to get going properly, and by then Sony will be on their 5th generation Alpha Having played with Fro's .dng files, I'd put my old A7R's IQ up against the Canon's any day, and you can those babies up for peanuts on eBay. That's not a great position to be in for either Nikon and Canon 🤔

Good video. I am a Nikon user and am in no hurry to sell my DSLR gear. I am sure many Canon users feel the same way but In 4 or 5 years we may be forced to change if all developments move to the mirrorless.

Why is it well below a canon 5D mark iv? Like you said in the video, forget the 2 card slots, most of the specs are relatively the same

Great review! I suspect Fuji knows where their market lies at the moment with their current lineup, especially where for a lot of us the difference between aps-c and full frame is negligible while the same between full frame and medium format is substantial they seemed to have covered both ends of the market. I can't even pretend to understand where Nikon & Canon are going as I originally felt sure they would nail their entry into mirrorless with cameras that would knock Sony off their pedestal. The Canon lenses look better (actually great) than the Nikon but the price is enormous! Personally I'm looking forward to things calming down to see how both Canon and Nikon do with their first try at mirrorless I know the fanboys will still buy them but I suspect both companies need more than that but time will tell.

Definitely not going to change my 5D3. I come from Fuji XT-2(after coming from Canon 5D2) for one single good reason: good lenses price. I have a awesome Sigma 50/1.4 that I paid for it only $250 and it's tag sharp and I love the colors. Same with the Canon 70-200 f/4L at $400 almost new. You can't have this on any mirrorless system, either full frame or APS-C

Not for me. If a battery doesnt last a whole wedding day shooting, it wont replace my DSLRs

Canon again crippling themselves. Was feeling bad for buying the M50 with this coming out, but there's a crop on this as well. You are essentially paying for the lens. I'll be sticking with my M50 and upgrading my glass/getting a hood. And don't give me that "they're protecting their cinema cameras" line either. Bullshit. You can checkout some footage shot on an M50 on my channel. Would appreciate if you checked it out. If you enjoy, drop a like and subscribe,

Fuji states the disparity between Full frame and Crop is so minuscule they will not make Full Frame but go directly to Medium Format.

fuji has no money to fight on full frame segment with the empires canon, and sony...and nikon. that s why the went to medium format, they are alone, almost on this market
