Canon has released several newer camera bodies since this first RF body. That said, I still use my R for stills and I do not have a single client that isn't impressed by the quality of my images. Yes, some of that satisfaction is due to my experience (-blushing!-) but even now at the beginning of November 2023, the EOS R remains a very capable tool. Thanks for the effort and the sharing. Got my R in April and would like to suggest the following to touch and drag opperation:
- 1/9 (like “the thirds”)touch and drag space besides 1/4. Or even smaller...
- speed sensitive tracking: this would allow to move fast through distant focus points if you move your thinger fast and slow down to even point to point with slower movents (this could also allow for smaller touch and drag areas).
- with very slow speed, or no movement, sensitive track of touch and drag could be enabled to auto zoom in for focus peaking, instead of having to click buttons.
- when finger off screen (focus point selected) auto focus straight, with out needing to half press shutter button (also, if zoomed in, image would go back to fit in EVF)
- these would work for both absolute and relative options
This would soeed uo a lot in focusing with this camera and using touch and drag and all complains about it beeing slow, hitting nose and chicks, or needing a joystick, etc
- please, incorporate RP focus bracketing system in the R! Please!
- an intervalometer system for stills!
- I really don’t like that the default functionality of it is to have both back screen and evf turned on as soon as the camera is on. I wish there was a way to let it working more like a dslr. Only the evf on, with a propper button to turn on the back screen. I had to let it set to mannually change from evf to back screen and set my function button only to change between the two.
- that Touch Bar is too sensible!

The same battery works on my Canon 60Da. I have the EOS Ra. Both these cameras help with capturing Hydrogen Alpha light to get photos of the great red nebulas in the sky. They also work well at regular daylight photography even though Canon warns against it. THEY WORK GREAT AT DAYLIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY. ❤

Recently bought a second hand R. Like it better than my R6 mk2. You should adopt 30 or better still 32 mp sensors on more cameras. Used to love my M6 mk2 for that.

Does the Canon R keep the separate configurations that we have established for video and photography ? So we don`t need to reset the settings each time we switch bettween the 2 shooting modes.
