Korg Kronos LS Synthesizer Workstation Review

Since its introduction, the Korg Kronos 88 has been the workstation of choice for A-list keyboardists such as Jordan Rudess, as well as many of the synth mavens here at Sweetwater. But not everyone needs fully weighted action. If you work extensively with orchestral sample collections, or play a lot of synth parts, you'll appreciate a lighter-weight 88-note Kronos with semi-weighted action. Behold the Kronos LS. It's a Kronos through-and-through — but 16 pounds lighter. Under the hood, it's a music production heavyweight. Korg's latest operating system enhances functionality and accelerates your creative workflow. The beefed-up SGX-2 piano engine boasts, in addition to its renowned German and Japanese grand pianos, a killer 9GB Berlin grand, as well as expressive sympathetic resonance and una corda samples you can tweak to taste.

I cannot understand for a second why Korg did not make a 73 or 76 note version of the Kronos LS! It seems to me that a lighter touxh or synth style keybed would be ideal for a 6 octave instrument. If there was one, I would jump on it! After all the 88 key LS weighs less than the 6 octave piano weighted Kronos! A 73 or 76 key LS would be a superb giggable choice or for someone without a huge studio. The 61 key version is not quite enough for an instrument with this versatility and the piano options. The old roland XP80 had synth style keys, 76 of them and was quite light for instance. Oh I do wish I had bought one of those when new!

I love the LS touch. I sold my RH3 model 88key for the 88key LS model. LOVE it.

...and from the online Kronos Operation Guide: "Note that the KRONOS2-88LS responds to aftertouch data from MIDI, but its keyboard does not generate aftertouch."

I would like to get some feed back on how the KKLS keybed compares with the Fatar TP 40 L found on the Kurzweil PC3/K8/A8

I WISH KORG would have MAXED out the RAM to 3 GB I don't know why they cannot do this with the AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU PAY FOR THESE WORKSTATIONS are INSANE $3499. It should come with 2/ SSD's and maxed out the RAM.

Where are the drawbars for the organ engines?

So this thing has the same features as 2 and X? then why after-touch isn't there? And it sounds like a toy to me.

There seems to be some confusion about whether it has aftertouch or not
- perhaps Sweetwater should clarify the situation!

The only downside is the lack of aftertouch...
