Frank Tedesco from Korg demonstrates the Kronos LS 88 Digital Piano at Kraft Music.

The Korg Kronos Music Workstation was created to satisfy today's most demanding, accomplished performers and producers -- as well as tomorrow's visionary leaders. Its massive sound selection comes from nine distinct sound engines, including the enhanced SGX-2 Grand Piano Engine. The innovative Kronos Set List mode allows you to organize all of the resources you need to get through a song or set on the TouchView display, which features Touch-Drag capability for interactive control of parameter values. Sequencer composition tools like KARMA, Drum Tracks, and Open Sampling System help you transform your musical ideas into complete compositions using the 16 MIDI track / 16 audio track sequencer / recorder section, while the 16 onboard effects processors ensure studio-quality sound. Kronos offers a wealth of realtime controllers to enhance performance and aid navigation, including dual joysticks, a ribbon controller, sliders, knobs, and switches. Connect any class-compliant USB/MIDI control surface (such as the Korg nanoPAD2 or padKONTROL) to the host ports for additional control options.

The Kronos 88-key and Kronos 73-key feature authentic piano feel, thanks to Korg's RH-3 Real Weighted Hammer Action, while the Kronos 61-key sports the semi-weighted Natural Touch synthesizer keybed. The Kronos LS 88-key weighs 14 pounds less than the Kronos 88 and strikes a unique balance between playability and portability, with a full-sized light touch keyboard that allows for effortless, nimble playing.

Just tried an 88LS today. I find the keybed to be too "plastic", though there is no doubt it will be useful for some. By the way, this is an outstanding demo, this guy really extracts some awesome dynamics from the keybed. Still, don't take it for granted: if you're considering a LS (or any expensive keyboard for that matter)... go to you local shop.

I WANT THIS! It's time to put my Triton to pasture. I dig my old Triton Workstation, but parts are very hard to get. I will sample this sucker out this week. BTW, excellent demo video!

Wish just a bit of attention was given to drum patterns. Lots of us older, (who can afford these keybds) old-school, live players use digital drum accompaniments like, say BOSS drum units, etc., & a keyboard that can replace those with easily accessed & stored beats is one that I'm gonna buy. When big companies design these, they should bring a real workaday world player who does lounges, restaurants, private parties for mature audiences, etc It's a market share that'll be around awhile.

ULTRA LEGENDARY KEYBOARD BY KORG.. SAD THAT MY BUDGET IS WAY TOO LOW TO BUY THIS DEADLY BLACK BEAST.. KORG HAS THE UNIQUE POWERFUL SOUND ENGINE UNLIKE KURZWEIL, YAMAHA AND ROLAND.. EVEN IN THE PA600 WHICH I HAVE, THE SOUND CLARITY IS JUST AWESOME.. DEMO VIDEO IS NICE

Well, I took the plunge. It's a pretty amazing machine with a million more bells and whistles than I'll need but it does have the ones i bought it for, but my biggest critique now that I own it is STILL...I sit here and STARE, wondering why something as important as BEATS is so played down. I'm searching for a way to find my way to the drum PATTERNS. That's just not an intuitive part of the system. Wish that was not treated like an afterthought. I don't always play w/a drummer.

So this is a downgrade from the Kronos 2, I take it with having that lighter touch? You get a weighted 88-key keyboard for the piano feel. Not to be dumbed down and feel like some Casio keyboard from Radio Shack (or Realistic ConcertMate, as they called it).
