I am currently a massage therapist exploring a career in OT. It's nice to know that my massage techniques can still be of use when I become an OT! Thanks for the videos :)

It's when he breaths out at the end when you realise how hard he's been working through all of this. Simple movements we take for granted. That's some resilience.

Very nice video - I am an occupational therapist - worked with more than 800 stroke survivors over the past 6 years in London- all that I want to say - please do not stop using your hand after stroke, use every bit of movement that you have (it can be just flickers, means a muscle activity), rehabilitation should start day 1 after stroke, 'if you do not use it lose it' is the basic principle. There needs to be more education around role of hand in walking, and how foot placement influences outcome of hand exercises. Simply please do not give up. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks for the video. I am working with my first stroke patient by now. I am a masseur and a nurse. I see to follow both the science and the instincts. I do body, limbs and facial massages, we train reading, talking, mimics, we excercise, and I have put some kinetapes on the foot, arm and hand. My client is improving so much, really. It has been 2 weeks, he can walk, slowly, but steadily, he articulates much better, the leg and glutes muscles are coming back, the palm starts to straighten. The client is 68, male. He is also my friend, so he trusts me and helps a lot. I come every day and he continues working after I leave.

Guys, there is so much we can do! Don't give up on relatives and friends, it seems bad and scary at the beginning, but it is doable, we can do it!
Btw, I work with him 30 to 60 minutes a day, also helping with showers and encouraging for occupational jobs like cooking, cutting apple, dressing on his own, and making sure he understands the progress in order to keep faith in recovery.
Important point, and my friend knows, too. Strokes can repeat! So educate your clients to stay sensitive to sudden changes and to ask for assistance immediately if they feel like "it", in order to get help ASAP, and to preserve maximum of the gained.
Lol to all.

I had a stroke 10 months ago. I am affected on my right side which seems to be 90% paralyzed. I am hoping & praying therapy can help me walk and wash normally again.

My wife had a rhs stroke 2 1/2 years ago. We've been doing all these exercises, and more, yet hardly any movement in her right arm and hand. It is so distressing and discouraging to see my sweetheart go through this. I don't know what to say.
