This is a conversation with Thomas Van Linge - a freelance journalist and a researcher covering the world's forgotten conflicts, including the civil war in Myanmar. Recently, he came back from a research trip to the rebel-held areas in Myanmar where he stayed with the rebels, visited the frontlines and saw up close what the war looks like.

In this conversation, we talk about why is the military starting to lose and how close it is from a final defeat, why is Russia supplying the military dictator, what is China's role in the conflict and what will happen to Myanmar once the dictatorship falls.

There are indeed many conflicts happening that very few are still following. Thanks for bringing this one up.

thank you for covering this underreported conflict and the way it too has to do- like everything else happening in the world - with the greater global conflict
I found very revealing the observation that the less the West gets directly involved in explicit support of the opposition the better it is for the opposition itself

good and genuine info. but myanmar is not twice the size of ukraine. it's just about 10% bigger. i think it is important to get the most basic facts right

Myanmar is only about 10% larger than Ukraine in terms of surface area.

I remember several videos on this conflict back in 2020. Weren't the Chinese allying themselves with the military? Didn't the Chinese agree to build a railway line from the Chinese border down to the Myanmar coast on the Indian ocean?

Thumbs up for choosing Thomas Van Linge, his depth of knowledge is impressive.
Thumbs down for the Patreon subscription hustle to "read further". IMO you're really not worth it, laddie.
