This is one of the great masterpieces by J.S. Bach played on the Hildebrandt Organ in the Church of St Wenzel in Naumburg, Germany by Alexei Galea Cavallazzi.

This is one of many recordings by the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Malta exhibiting historical instruments and played by the Music Director at the Mediterranean Conference centre in Malta. The aim of these recordings is to bring to life the majestic works of Bach and give a cultural and historical context to the magnificent music and the queen of instruments.

The music of the spheres! When Bach is played, we are transported into the spaciousness and dynamics of the universe.

This organ plays together with the church. I visited this wonderful instrument some years ago. I love it. Bravo! I could stay and play on this organ until the end of my life.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻🍻 I love playing the Dorian far more than the well known toccata and fugue in d minor

If for us the pleasure of listening to this 'King of Instruments, ' whose construction was overseen by the 'Emperor' himself, is such a privilege, how much more pleasure it would've given the organist to play this gem from the 1740's....Bach was indeed a genius!

More glorious music never written. Except by Bach. This is one of those pieces where he does that thing. That marvelous Bach thing at 13:02 where I just melt. What a sound.

Awesome. No need for assistance or registration. BACH would be proud of that.

Just discovered this channel and I'm really enjoying all the performances.
Hopefully there are many more to come. It's so great to see the intros with details about some of the great instruments I've loved for decades.
Thank you! 👏

EXCELLENT! I remember that I studied this toccata and fugue in my undergraduate time. It's possibly one of the rare cases in which it is advisable — at least for the toccata — n to use no 16' stops for the manuals and no 32' for the pedals (the work would lose its clarity). Thanks a lot for posting it!

Those mixtures! Just "quinty" enough for some mystery, the sovereignity of each voice (not just S and B, ) that pinch of gravitas added to the already atypical volume of fundamental in the upper and middle range.

Genius. Aesthetically bullseye. Maybe it was Bach's idea??

A sublime performance of perhaps Bach's greatest organ work, on a world heritage instrument. Maybe the best organ video on YouTube. THANK YOU!

Splendida esecuzione. Veloce, brillante e danzante, Ottima la sceelta dei registri, che permette do godere dell'effetto eco tra il principale e il positivo nella toccata.
Complimenti, una delle migliori esecuzioni mai ascoltate!
