As a child I turned pages while my dad played this on the pipe organ in church. I naturally absorbed all the notes of the entire composition as there were innumerable practice sessions. I did work out some parts on the guitar as a challenge and achieved success for my own satisfaction. Watching Edson play the entire piece was like realizing my own dream. Thank you for your beautiful artistry.

Amazing never thought it could be played so well on the guitar.

Estava comparando as performances dessa peça em diferentes instrumentos.

Some pieces were NEVER meant to be played on a guitar. After hearing this played many times on some of the greatest organs in the World, as soon as I saw this headline, I said to myself Wait? Surely not! But, after watching Maestro Lopes for a mesmerizing 9 minutes, I have an even greater appreciation for how amazing some people are and that the impossible can be made possible if we chose it. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Maestro, I want to thank you for this performance. I have studied classical guitar for 55 years (I'm now an old retired psychology professor of 67) and I have heard many performances of this piece on guitar. Yours is simply the best. It is disciplined and clear though passionate, authoritative but not ponderous, and muscular but also deeply feeling. Watching you play this and also your rendition of Bachs' Prelude to his 3rd Cello Suite teaches me something new each time about playing Bach. I am very grateful for you. I think many in the classical guitar world must feel the same way as I do. Respectfully, Cliff

Edson Lopez is my guitar hero. After Edson comes John Williams and Andres Segovia.
His performances are played with the ease of a master and they give me immense joy.
Edson is just as amazingly, a generous man.
He offers music for free, a library of perfectly transcribed guitar pieces from the repertoire.
His transcriptions are of the highest quality, I agree with 99% of his LH fingerings. Bless you.
Edson is a modern day Segovia, in that he promotes classical guitar and accessibility to it, through his love for the instrument.
Edson, Thank You for who you are all you do. Hero.

Considering the differences between a guitar and a cathedral pipe organ, this is a truly wonderful interpretation of a much-loved piece. Please accept my blown-away-ness.

Tenho de rever o meu conceito de saber tocar guitarra.

Senhor Lopes -- My father was a Bach scholar and musician. One of his favorite pieces was the Toccata and Fugue BWV 565. He passed away almost exactly 25 years ago. He would have loved your masterfully artistic performance of this wonderful piece of music. I definitely do.

THIS is why classical guitarists never show up in those stupid "best guitarists" lists - they would own them all, every time.

So beautiful... you can hear and appreciate every note in the score; nothing gets glossed over or hidden. Amazing.
