I had the experience of reading these books at a young age (16-18). Probably needing to know what happens next and wanting to know only the key points made me feel like this book was slow in my first read. But in my 30s 2 years back when I went back to reading the books again I really found this book to be one I liked a lot. Maybe the fact that I know what would happen let me enjoy the story and writing after I discarded the whole dying to know what happens next feeling.
Moreover I did pick up on a lot of stuff which I had missed out on. So I do recommend you guys go back to these books again a few years later, maybe when the season 6 or 7 is shot. I think you will see the story in a different light.

Bro, 1st time reading here, this is the book where about halfway through as soon as Tuon got introduced and I realised that I’ll never hear the end of the intricacies of sheanchean code of honor and catfights I had to close the book and put it away. I can’t fucking deal with this shit.

Seeing repercussions to certain acts in this series is some times annoying, like in the beginning of the 2nd book for me the way his friends barely notice that he comes back and there are no forsaken around... He sometimes glosses over certain things. Either way I haven't felt the slog so much in this series. 1st time reader going through it. I've noticed that the pacing is somewhat off but thats about it. The pacing since book 4 goes a bit slower from what I'm seeing.
