We're planning to do one last attempt two run an LPG-fuelled ten-second pass with Turbo Taxi, but we're not looking to spend any money so Scotty has put together an 1000hp capable Barra using parts that are laying around the Carnage workshop.

Street Machine Carnage is all about having fun with cars. Sometimes it's serious performance, sometimes it's crazy fun, but it always interesting and done on a budget.

Here in the US we have a company called Cintas that is a service that cleans company uniforms, changes door mats, but they have a commercial parts washer that has a heated tank with their patented live enzymes solution. We used it to clean up oilfield parts that were used down inside of the wells and it always did an amazing job. One day I decided to put a Honda 1.8L DOHC cylinder head in it that had almost a quarter of a million miles on it and I didn't even agitate anything, I just let it sit in the tank with the solution running onto it and it cleaned ALL of the oil staining out of the aluminum in about 15 minutes. The head looked brand new. I flipped it over and it even cleaned all of the carbon out of the combustion chambers. I mean it was amazing what that thing could do. We also had a much bigger heated diesel parts washer and it was crap compared to this thing. I took that head to the machine shop and they asked me if it was brand new. They did a 3 angle valve job on it, installed larger valves for me, and I put big cams in it, put my turbo back on, and it made 412 whp at 15 psi on a $125 eBay turbo!

Your engine builds are definitely some of my favorite content - so much more realistic than the "throw tens of thousands of dollars of brand new sponsored parts at it" builds on other channels.

i appreciate these videos, i've always been afraid of building a turbo motor but all the stuff you've explained over your last couple engine building videos has made it way less daunting

Friday, woohoo! Carnage, woohoo!!! Now I'll start work. Good luck with the rest of the build Scotty. I hope you get a 10.99 on the first day. And good luck getting ready for drag challenge.

It's often, the slap together engines go really well and hang on reliably. Surprises the crap outta you.

Lapping in valves. Boy, this video brings back memories of my mechanic days. In the 60’s we were always doing this, rings, bearings and a valve grind and you had to work very quickly or you’d get the DCM from the boss (don’t come Monday). These days the engineering tolerances, metallurgy quality and lubricants are so good that an engine rebuild or even just a “refresh” is a fairly rare event.

4:35 Glad to see Scotty that I'm not the only one that uses Ugga-Dugga as a unit of measurement!
That seized Barra block (what's left of it), turn it into a coffee table & use it as a giveaway.

Currently at home for 4 weeks looking after a newborn and a 2.5 year old. These videos are a blessing and remind me that I will get back into racing soon enough.

I never get tired of watching Scotty bang an engine together. I think it'll go 10's. Shout outs to Matt for constant great filming and editing!

Good job Scotty with the hand lapping tool I’ve seen people cut those off put a piece of Rod in and use them on the end of a drill

Ford did actually put some thought into that engine for a grocery getter. A factory crank scrapper, and 4 out the 7 main caps got cross bolted mains. Not too shabby.

Back in the first lockdown some American man installed Koenigsegg Freevalve tech on his Miata MX5. Basically it removes camshafts and replaces them with actuators to act on the valves. It's a good watch but very complicated.
