My dad has MDD. He's on medication but I can tell when it's not working as well because Mom will say she feels like she's trying to live for two people. The list was fascinating. I think my dad has had most of them at one point or another but I never really thought about some of them

I just watched your deeper dive into mania video, so it was interesting to watch this one so soon after and really absorb that contrast between the different mood states you've experienced.

One of the things I found most interesting about the symptoms of MDD is how much variety there can be within each one. Like how one person might sleep too much and another might sleep too little, or have too much or too little appetite. I also didn't realize that thoughts of death or dying didn't have to occur every or nearly every day like the other symptoms (and thank you for providing resources in the description for people who may be dealing with that).

It also sucks that it's so hard to get a diagnosis before depression is either ruining or has already ruined your life. I hope something can change about the diagnostic process that improves that and helps more people get better before it has to get that bad.

I appreciated your explanation of how depression can relate to schizoaffective disorder (and how you clarified that you can also have psychosis and depression without it being schizoaffective disorder, because I had never even thought about that).

Thank you so much, as always, for sharing all of this valuable information. I hope it helps educate a lot of people!

Treatment is also a great learning experience. I'm not a great therapist myself. I'm anxious, impatient, and trying to escape depression most of the time. I also have schizophrenia. Try to find positive hookups. I also tried to commit suicide a couple years ago. I remember what it was like when I was lying in the back of my car trying to overdose on two bottles of pills. I was rescued by the police and hospitalized about 200 miles from where I live. My father also commit suicide shortly before that. Seems to run in the family. Its hard to beleive we really do have good things to live for sometimes. But hang in there. Iterer really could just be your attitude, impatience, or lack of foresight. We can't allways see better things to come but they will. Your very brave bringing your help online. Great show. 😊

I'm a bipolar I person and my moods were 10/10 at peaks of mania and 2/10 at lows of depression. When I was put on zyprexa it gradually became permanent 4/10 (so mild depression), with very little fluctuations. And now I feel like I have very small amount of "life force" (to put in video gaming terms) that I have to ration for everyday activities. Like brushing teeth takes this amount, getting a bath takes that amount, going for a walk takes that etc. Maybe there is a way to increase this "life force" of mine but I haven't discovered it yet. And I would love if some people stopped calling me lazy, that kinda sucks, but I can understand them, being lazy and depressed is kinda similar, unfortunately. Thanks for the video Kit, wishing you best of health and luck again :)

I had cluster seizures and a grand mal at 34. I spiraled into a terrible 1 year depression/anxiety session. Took everything to pull myself out of it.

Hi miss, thank you for your videos. From your research, can treatment for bipolar eliminate depressive cycles in rapid cycling bipolar 2 please? Meds got rid of hypomania but i still experience depression monthly. Though not as intense as before.

Depression is to "being sad" like poverty is to being broke, or like climate is to a storm.
