Easy mnemonic of phosphate binders (phosphorous binders) used for the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is demonstrated in this video. Phosphate binders are very important for the management of hyperphosphatemia in chronic kidney disease. The phosphate binders make insoluble complexes with the phosphorous consumed in the meal, and these complexes are not absorbed. They can be broadly classified into aluminum containing, calcium containing, and not containing both aluminum and calcium. The choice of phosphate binders depends on the status of the patient and their comorbidities.
