Показать описание
testing of the ignition coil of a 6v ct90. the ignition point is simulated by momentarily touching the coil green wire to ground. the time the green wire is touching the chassis is the dwell time. the spark is generated at the moment the green wire disconnects from ground. ie the points opens. the battery negative is connected to the coils metal chassis. spark plug also grounded to metal chassis. on a side note, the points follower rides on the end of the cam shaft. there is an indentaion (smaller radius) on the shaft as opposed to a cam lobe. the beginning of the cam indentation to the point where it rises again is the dwell angle.
this same test can be done with components in the bike. just remove the spafk plug and ground it, so you can see yhe spark. turn the ignition key to on. open and close the points manually. if the points is such that its closed, you have the seperate the points. if the point is such that its open, use a jumper wire to short the points contacts. at it happen, english is not my native language. pls comment any corrections you deem required to improve this passage of information to our fellow fixers. thank you
