Worst to Best: Every Rick and Morty Season Ranked

Rick and Morty has now run for five seasons on Adult Swim, with season 6 fast approaching. I decided to take a look back on everything the show has done so far.

I remember the creators saying that S3 was supposed to have more episodes but a sudden change forced them to rework the president episode to function as the season finale midproduction. Guessing S4s finale was what they had originally planned.

Seasons 1 and 2 were the GOATs. They had the perfect balance of silliness and edginess, not to mention the creative gags that their episodes had.

Biggest gripe I have with the new seasons, especially Seasons 5 is that its humor relies mostly on lazy pop culture references. It kinda just felt like that the creative juices were running a little thin.

Season 6 looks hella promising though! The trailer really gave off some serious Season 2 vibes and that couldn't make me happier.

Not sure why Season 3 gets as much hate as it does smh. It’s the show at its most popular and arguably most ambitious. Rickshank, Pickle Rick, Rest and Ricklaxation and my personal fav Tales from the Citadel are all 10/10’s.

Rick Potion No. 9 is probably my favorite episode. Not only is it the first time the show got dark, an event with permanent and huge consequences, it remains one of the darkest moments of the entire show. Up to that point, I don't think anyone expected that from Rick and Morty. It really swept me up when I realize that by the end, they both went back to status quo and didn't. Damn it, I might have to watch it now lol.

Rickshank and Ricklantis are the two best episodes of the series for me, so WOW. Surprise S3 bottoms the list.

I really like season 3 to be honest. I feel like it may not hit the same highs as s2, but it has some really solid episodes, and I think the overarching plotline of the divorce and Rick/Jerry trying to be a part of the family was some much needed depth and through line to the show

I thought S3 was one of the strongest. It felt like it was going somewhere. After that, nothing landed the same. I realize there was a lot of behind the scenes stuff I don’t know about both R&M and Community, but it seems like Harmon tends to have trouble deciding where things are going in his projects and once his patience wears thin, his writing & direction descend into spiteful parody.

Season 3 had WAY more clever humor, struggles, story, messages and thought than Season 4 and 5 had.

Season 1 had all the episodes that made me fall in love with the show. Lawnmower dog, Anatomy park, meseeks, and my favorite Rick counters.

Its crazy to me that you enjoyed seasons 4 and 5 over 3. In season 3, I thought half the episodes were absolutely amazing and the other half were just good. If Im being honest, most of seasons 4 and 5 were painful for me with some of the episodes being completely unwatchable. In season 4 the only episodes I liked were the vat of acid episode and the finale. With season 5 I think I disliked every episode except the last two. Thats just me though

I really liked season 3. The first one is probably tied with total Rickall as my favourite episode ever. I’ve heard a lot of people say that don’t really like vindicators, I’ve always liked it a lot. There’s the mad max one too, tales of the citadel…. The finale was really not a good one though.

Season 3 is my favorite, actually. It feels the most emotionally honest, like in the Mad Max episode where Morty and Summer wanted to stay to avoid having to deal with their parents getting divorced.

It's crazy to think that if Rick and Morty ended after s2 or s3 ep. 1 we'd probably talk about it as one the greatest animated comedies of all time and say it deserved more episodes

Honestly, The RickShank Redemption and The Ricklantis Mixup alone are enough for me to make season 3 my favourite

I never would have expected season 3 to be bottom. It's probably my favourite season.
