Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! are upcoming role-playing video games (RPGs) developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. The games are the first installments of the Pokémon RPG series for the Nintendo Switch. They are enhanced remakes of the 1998 Game Boy video game Pokémon Yellow. They will also contain influences from Pokémon Go, as well as integration with Go, and will support a new optional controller called the Poké Ball Plus. The games are scheduled to be released worldwide on November 16, 2018

Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! are set in the Kanto region and will include the original 151 Pokémon creatures in addition to their respective Mega Evolved and Alolan forms from Pokémon X and Y & Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and Sun and Moon. Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! will feature common elements of the series, such as battling non-player character Pokémon Trainers and Gym Leaders with caught Pokémon creatures. However, instead of battling them like the traditional battle system of other major Pokémon role-playing games (RPGs), the catching of Pokémon creatures uses a different mechanic that is based on the mobile spin-off game Pokémon Go where players throw Poké Balls at a wild Pokémon by using the motion controls of the Joy-Con controller.

This was amazing. Who would have thought a lowly Oddish would carry this thing.

Why am I rewatching this 2 years later? Maybe because it was recommended OR because it's awesome and I've already watched it at least 10 times.

What if you want to catch a Bulbasaur, but then the game said:

"A wild Metapod appeared!"

Me playing a red/blue nuzlocke:
My bulbasaur died to Giovanni
Blue: why are you here? Did one of your Pokemon die too?
Me: as a matter of fact, yes.

i dont comment often but i wanted to leave a comment to let you know that i REALLY appreciate the way you formatted this video. you cut it down to a really good length and kept just the right amount of content to keep it entertaining. you used the amount of time you needed to give all the information you needed to give in this video. keep up the good work!

Sounds like you learned the 2 main lessons that most people doing their first Nuzlocke do: that those weird third rate garbage pokemon like Vileplume are actually not garbage and are in fact every bit as viable as the mainstream choices, and that having death be the consequence for failure really makes the battles much more tense.

You did, however, kinda miss the point of the rename rule - it's actually a clever little bit of psychological manipulation that adds another level to the death-as-consequence tension. Humans attach an inherent psychological value to something that's named, and they tend to feel that attachment moreso when they name them. It's why you don't care if some stranger's dog dies (well, unless you're a huge dog lover, but even then it's less intense) but if it's your dog that dies, you're pretty wrecked. Giving pokemon unique names forms a bond immediately, and spending time training it up only amplifies that. That's why scientists do what you did: they assign clinical designations to their subjects rather than using a name. Some prisons refer to inmates by numerical designation rather than name to help their guards deal with what they're doing to them (even at humane prisons - the very act of incarcerating someone against their will is kinda inherently unpleasant for most people to deal with)

The rename rule is intended to fight the idea of "oh, my Gengar died. I wonder if I'll have a chance to get another one." as opposed to the loss of "Oh no! Mr. Spookerton died!" (It also gets around the weird disconnect of having their "name" change several times over the course of their training, which you get when you just refer to them by species name as they level.

(And no, I have never had a Gengar named Mr. Spookerton. It's the cutest name for a horrible dream eating monster I could come up with on short notice.)
