My grandmother's neighbor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin mowed her lawn for her after she became a widow at age 60. He did this until my grandmother moved to a nursing home at age 88.

Went from Florida and stayed in a small town in Michigan and was blown away by the slow pace, great attitudes, and overall friendly vibe. Infuriating on the road, so pleasant in person. 😂

I always love how he perfectly encapsulates the weird dichotomy of Midwest life. Like, I know people who are unironically like this. Normally these interactions are spread out through the week, but more or less the same.

It's uncanny.

Hello, Dominicano here, I really enjoy the midwest way, people always nice and talkative and willing to help, doesn't make me miss the island, i feel like home. Except...snow and below freezing weather. 😂

I grew up in the Midwest. Everyone helped everyone without expectation of receiving back for our troubles. We knew it would return to us eventually iin another form or by someone else. Brought the mentality to the military and mand seasoned members looked at me like I had two heads. Some knew I was from the midwest and it astonished me how they'd know.

I've landed myself in NY State and was sad to learn that I have 3 heads instead of 2 and nobody wanted my advice or help and it's hard to find help here. I have very few close friends. When my life situation changes, I'll return to the Midwest and hope it hadn't changed too much.

I used to cut my neighbors front lawn when I lived with my parents. They appreciated it and it only took an extra 20 min. Being kind to people around you pays off, I feel like the Midwest definitely has that nailed down

At farrier school we had a super nice fella from Wisconsin. No one but his mama had ever cut his hair. He served Kool-Aid with dinner, and he never, ever swore. Nicest guy ever! 😁

This one time I was pulling up to a 4-way stop, and something magical happened. We all get up to the stop signs at the same time, but we ALL are making right turns, so we all got to turn at the same time. Truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

Re: FIB - Ages ago I was listening to an interview with Dave Matthews who was in Chicago for a concert and he said that the best part of Chicago was Wisconsin. Which, fair.

Moved from the Southeast US to Missouri/Kansas some years ago and settled with one of them sweet lil midwestern boys. Poor darlin apologizes when I bump into him. Bless his heart, he's so precious.
