Skeet Ulrich’s scream while getting stabbed was genuine! As we know the end of the movie brings about the revelation that Sidney’s boyfriend, Billy, was one of the killers and Ghostface, which results in a fight between the characters. When Sidney jumps out the closet and stabs Billy with an umbrella he lets out a scream, but this wasn’t acting. Neve Campbell had accidentally hit Skeet Ulrich in a spot where he had received open heart surgery as a kid, so his scream of pain was genuine and used in the final cut!

Wes Craven (RIP) mentioned in the commentary that it was a stuntwoman (with different shoes Sidney doesn’t wear) who accidentally missed the padding on Skeet’s chest due to the mask but close enough. What makes this even better is knowing that he hit Matthew Lillard in the head a phone and wonderful dialogue was improvised by him. Either way, such a horror classic 👻🔪📱

Also, when he throws the phone. It actually slipped from his hand and hit Matt Lillard. So, his reaction was also genuine

He was also not supposed to hit Matthew Lillard with the phone, but the fake blood made it slip out of his hands. Matthews reaction was just him going with it.

Oh like in the exorcist, when the mom was thrown and screamed in pain was real. She really actually got hurt. During a scene with one of the priest, the priest was not an actor but an actual one but couldn’t act. So to get a reaction the director slapped him in the face to get a good reaction. He also shot his gun in random time to make them jumpy.

Something similar happened in scream 3 where Neve struck Scott Foley with an ice pick, missing the pads in his back and in scream 4 accidentally hitting the ghostface actor during the picture frame scene. I guess Neve doesn’t have the best aim 🤭
