Whatever happened to my body, my choice, if I want to wear a mask, that's my choice, if I don't want to, that's my choice, not theirs. Technically, the government shouldn't be telling us what to do, we should be telling the government what to do. Or not to do?

When my city brought in its mask mandate last August, they told the public that at least 10% of people should not wear masks for health reasons. After a month, we had 98-99% mask compliance.

And it wasn't the stores, either. The staff at the door almost universally would ask you, "do you have/need a mask?" and if you said you couldn't wear one, they'd just remind you to do your best to maintain social distancing.

It was the Karen brigade. An agitated male Karen overheard me telling the door guy I couldn't mask up, and he starts in on me. "I don't CARE about your medical exemption! YOUR medical exemption puts ME at risk!" The whole time, he's picking up and squeezing oranges, then putting them back, despite the "this is not the time to squeeze the fruit" signs posted all over the produce section.

I only wish I'd been annoyed enough to ask him, "have you touched your mask since you last sanitized your hands? Just wanted to know if I should avoid the oranges today."

Meanwhile, I had about 12 illegal indoor gatherings with family during the ban on indoor gatherings. None of us caught COVID from those gatherings. Other than nursing homes and health workers, most cases of COVID where I am are contracted in the homes of essential workers who don't have the luxury of staying safe at home collecting enhanced benefits.
