At this point I don’t even know why articles mention that Bungie created Halo, because there’s almost no one left still working at Bungie that had any part in its creation. Heck, most of the people that worked on early Destiny are probably gone.

I miss when old developers were all nerds dedicated to their games they making

Mobile version of destiny? We can't even get a shader filter so I can search through them alphabetically

Ugh reading the whole “Bungie magic” thing immediately reminded me of the Cyberpunk 2077 disaster when devs came out saying that upper management told them not to worry because “we’re the guys who made Witcher 3!”

It seems too many execs/managers at these bigger studios think they can just ride the waves of their previous successes forever. Despite how often this industry has shown us that isn’t the reality.

9:27 Consider this. At the Warframe Convention last month, the Devs commented that every year they somehow get a bigger room. This year was the biggest. AND they went drinking with their fans the night before.
And Warframe content has always been free.

I've played countless games over the decades, and gaming has been a significant part of my life. Through gaming, I've met some incredible people and shared epic moments with others I've never met in person. The Destiny franchise has been at the core of many of these experiences. It's genuinely disheartening to see Destiny slowly fading away. I've spent thousands of hours grinding for every god roll, collecting all exotics, building quad stat setups, and achieving impressive PVP stats. More importantly, I've made friends I've known for years, and I log on eagerly to update them about my day at work.

Outside of gaming, I serve in the military, and my Destiny friends list mainly consists of veterans from around the globe who have also been playing for years. It brings me immense happiness to play with like-minded individuals who, like me, still find the time to chat and conquer raids.

Even when new games are released, I buy them, speed run them, and then return to Destiny 2. In recent years, I've completed titles like FF7 Remake and Elden Ring, but I always find myself coming back to Destiny.

If Destiny 2 ceases to exist or continues to decline, it would be a genuine shame to lose something that has entertained me and many others for such a significant part of our lives. There's nothing I enjoy more than coming back from an operation or exercise, opening a beer, and sharing stories with my Destiny 2 buddies about the challenges of the past few weeks.

If I had enough money, I would buy Bungie without a second thought and continue the legacy of Destiny for just a little while longer.

In the end, The Final Shape was Destiny's Swan Song.
It was fun while it lasted but all good things must come to an end.

Idk I'd rather pay for a good expansion like Witch queen and final shape then move to smaller scale expansions. I suppose it depends on the scale of these smaller expansions but if its like just 4 mission to kill a worm god or something I'd be really disappointed.

This sounds like maintenance mode while they focus on Marathon. They need to(they won't) hit a homerun with Marathon. If you thought seasons/episodes were bad and boring AF with weak content, it's going to get much, much worse.

That 3rd person games take on skins is just wrong though, lol. Blizzard makes record money on skins in Overwatch. People are shelling out $20-60 per skin for something they can't even see themselves in game. Whales like showing stuff off to other players, doesn't matter if it's 1st or 3rd person.

Remember when micro transactions funded the Whisper Mission. Imagine a world where they kept that direction and all funds were put back into the game. Thats the future of Destiny we needed.

We have this same problem at my company. I am a principal software architect/engineer. Leadership wants to 10x revenue streams while the quality of the main revenue stream is compromised.

It’s my job as an architect to push back within the organization on the breadth of expansion and advocate for investment in quality of existing products.

It’s a tale as old as time man. It pains me to hear players complain about devs because i guarantee you the devs are on your side. Management is usually where bad decisions are made.

At what point in time did Bungie's expansion Vidoc's become hostage ransom videos?
I mean, how many staff featured in them are still there?

How are they going to make money if they essentially go free content updates in the future instead of paid expansions? Everything for SIlver in Eververse? Ascendant Shards? Buy them with Silver. Exotic Ciphers? Buy them with Silver etc.

Bungie also made two RTS games that were absolutely fantastic - called Myth, and Myth II: Soulblighter. A third person game is not some strange territory.
Also yeah, stock is absolutely calculated into yearly compensation packages. As an example, right now, I make a decent 6-figure salary. But for someone of my tenure, it's probably about 10-15% below standard. However, I also get chunks of RSU, or restricted stock units, which vest in segments several times per year. The income I get from that, offsets the lower wage completely and then some, but the downside is waiting (and yes, if terminated/laidoff/I quit, I lose those un-vested RSU). But it's fairly standard as you go deeper into corporate structure. This allows the company to technically not lose any liquidity on the books, while still offering you greater overall compensation and incentivizing you to do a good job and ensure your continued employment for those RSUs, hah.
