It is seriously impressive to see that you replaced this back glass in this horribly designed phone. Just like you say, the back panel seems to be the hardest part to remove. I am happy to see that Apple did a better job with the successor. This iPhone 11 design is just really bad.

Good to know that aftermarket back housings are easier to remove and replace than the factory ones. The factory one is a really bad design choice - you shouldn't need lasers to remove a piece of glass when Samsungs have their glass removable via a heat plate and careful removal of the glass.

When a phone comes back to you for a second repair, it's time to suggest a case to the owner. Glass slabs can feel pretty nice, but they're slippery as snot and quite fragile. Cases cost far less than parts.

Every time Hugh uploads an iPhone repair, I think to myself, "what unnecessarily difficult thing are we encountering today?"

Great job Hugh! I managed to refurb a Galaxy S8 that I payed 7$ for it. Using as my daily driver.

You and I have wildly differing definitions of "Coming free with ease"!!!!
I still have hot dreams about my S5 neo where the back popped off and I swapped in my replacement battery when on road trips.

Thank you for this video Mr. Jeffreys.
On a side note... I always questioned the wisdom of using glass for the back panel of a phone. I loved my Pixel 4a and its polymer back panel.
Greetings from the UK,

Always a good time watching the professionalism if this young man. I wish there were places here in the USA that had his level of work and care.
I doubt that anyone here in the states bothers putting the seal around the screen back on. I treat my phones, new or used with kid gloves, because I don’t know if they have been compromised in the past in any way.
Blows my mind to think that people take these things in to water. Any water, tub, shower, ocean……toilet.
They are electronics and that and what’re do not go together.

I used crayons to fill the tiny gaps between the glass panel and the housing, it feels much nicer and smoother after that. From a color set you can just pick the crayon which fits best to the color of the housing/glass.

Hi Mr Jeffreys, Always thank you with the quality video.
I've tried some iP 11 back chassis repair before, but I've found that there was constant glitch with wireless charging.
Did you ever experienced this issue before?

in my experience the rings around the camera only are lose on aftermarket housings. they are spotwelded on an original one

You didn’t mention that those aftermarket housings usually have horrible quality compared to the original ones. Screws often don’t match the original points and the anodizing much less durable. The phone scratches easier. The back glass is also much wicker so it’s much easier to break second time.

Hey Hugh Jeffreys great wee video as always I wonder where did you get your tools from too fix the IPhone's? I would like too try and fix my two IPhone's but I don't have any tools and I don't have that heat plate that use in your videos.

Seeing him pry chunks of glass from the back of the phone was like seeing myself picking out chunks of broken chocolate. Both are quite satisfying.
