Truthfully, I haven't enjoyed anything since the end of Colin Baker's run. Even McCoy's run was mired in silliness and poor writing/production. The newer stuff since Eccleston has had a few moments, but they're just that. Moments.
All the hooha about this interracial gay kiss, for example. WHEN did any of the Doctors EVER kiss anyone? Hartnell? Troughton? Pertwee? Baker? Davison? Baker? McCoy? NONE of them ever did. The Doctor was never a romantic lead, he's a paternal figure. Clearly, modern writers don't understand the character.
