I live on a 68 acre farm and we have quite a few farm animals as well as dogs and cats. However, the animal that seems most attached to me is a wild gray squirrel who I call Ruckus. We assume Ruckus' mother died somehow because when we found him he was no bigger than an adult mouse and almost dead laying on our front porch one morning. I did my best to help him pull through but I assumed he wouldn't make it, according to my online research, they usually don't. But every morning when I went outside to check on him in the little nest box we set up, he was still alive and eventually he made a full recovery. He's about 2.5 years old now and although he's always been free to leave, he follows me everywhere. He still lives in his little nest box in our woodshed and every morning when I go outside with my kids to wait for the school bus, Ruckus comes running over and climbs up my body to perch on my shoulder and that's where he stays as long as I'm outside.
