How to Secretly Record a Zoom Meeting (on a Mac)

You can secretly record a Zoom meeting even if you don't have permission from the host. On your Mac, it's as easy as using Quicktime Player.

Quicktime Player is a strange name, because it's also a great free recording tool on your Mac.

Kind of misleading to not tell people that this won't record Zoom's internal audio in/out signal vs the mic and speakers on your laptop. Everyone who watches this is going to be in a for a rude surprise when they realize they've recorded the video of the screen recording with tinny laptop speaker audio of the remote zoom participants but not the actual Zoom audio you'd normally hear on a Zoom call.

If you want to record internal audio, then use something like blackhole (existential audio), set the audio output to blackhole instead of headphones or speakers, then start the recording with quicktime.

For those complaining about not being able to record audio with video on quick time player, when you turn on the screen recording, the screen recording panel appears, right next to the Record button is an press that arrow and you can choose a mic to record. I had the same issue... Goodluck.

I record my zoom uni class at 8am so I can fall asleep and just rewatch later on when I get ready to do the assignments haha

Okay so I made the error of not making sure the mic feature was on in my recording (which I didn't know I had to do) so now I have a 1.5 hr recording with no sound. Make sure you don't make this mistake, I was super frustrated afterwards. Also if anyone knows how to magically recover the sound, please help a girl out!

My volume didn't work. I made sure that I had internal mic on preferences and on Zoom meeting. After recording, I couldn't hear audio. Any suggestions?

But the audio is not recorded alonly the video is recorded when u attend the zoom

Unfortunately, Zoom is somehow blocking the audio. I have a silent video recording when I use this method

What if you use the screen record option on a Mac?? Control Shift 5? Will they be notified?

I tried this with other means but it did not record the audio.. it only recorded the video.. will I get the audio too if I do it with QuickTime Player??🤔

I just did that - but like every time i have tried that, i now have a 2 hr video with no sound....

I'm trying to record a Zoom meeting via HDMI to an Atomos Ninja on a Mac. The video is captured but no audio. This is only a problem recording the Zoom app. For instance, I can record any other streaming service that's on my desktop with audio, no problem.

I had to plug in my headphones, because the other person was hearing too much feedback. Once plugged in, the recorder captured my audio, but not that of the other person. How do you fix that?
