We have a severe housing crisis in British Columbia and Canada! The cost of homes should have risen with average incomes but it rose rapidly and fictitiously as the wealthy used it as an exploitative venture and politicians facilitated this huge movement; they literally took a place to live from their constituents and gave it to speculators. Christie Clark, previous premier of BC, is very proud of the many trips she made to China with open invitations to invest in our real estate and she still walks among us. As well, rental housing rose to a fantastically fabricated level beginning when Paul Martin withdrew funding for the housing program in the early 1990s and defunding was increased by Harper. Politicians didn’t just stand by and watch while this happened, they were part of the plan and without them we would never have lost our housing. Yet, they have never been called to account.
