- I’m thankful for you giving me strength to push on when I’m feeling weak, I’m thankful for the lack of judgement and the encouragement you give me, you satisfy my most deep and important needs and frankly I don’t believe I could ever carry on without you
-Sir, this is a Wendy’s

I started doing this awhile ago with custodial workers in public bathrooms - Walmart, airports. “Thank you for your work, I really appreciate the clean space.” And, you gotta stop moving and look them in the eye (even if they don’t look back.) Every time an appreciative smile is returned. People work hard.

A simple smile and looking into the eyes of the person you are thanking also shows true appreciacion

My son would always give me resistance when I’d tell him to do something. When I realized he just wanted to know why or give him context, his attitude completely changed for the better. I don’t know if a cure-all, but it definitely helped.

I was a server at a very high volume restaurant near the airport. You’d be amazed at how far a genuine “much appreciated” or “thank you kindly” goes with someone who isn’t used to it. It may seem like nothing to you as the speaker but to an unknown audience, it’s like a bright light in a dark room

One thing I make sure to do when I thank people is to look them in the eye when I say it. It makes it so much more sincere.

"Thank you...most kindly!"
Been using this phrase since Grandparents taught me it as a kid.
Expressed sincerely, it has gotten me very far in life with personal & professional relationships.

The greater the level of detail, the more genuine your expression becomes. This can be applied to instances like saying "I love you, " where instead of merely repeating the phrase, you explain the reasons behind your love. For example, I appreciate how devoted you are to your friends and family.

ITS TRUE, I find most people are actually shocked when you thank them for something specific.

As a master resilience trainer in the Army we are taught this. Effective praise - explaining why the good thing happened. Helps expand the positive feelings of that person and makes them want to continue it.

Vihn, you changed praise into feedback. Brilliant! People hardly ever gets quality feedback.

I do this if I get a wonderful meal, go into the kitchen and thank the cook face to face, always blows them away.

I saw my childhood best friends dad last week. I told him thank you for being such a big influence in my life and helping mold who I am today.

I am in my 50’s. He is turning 80 soon.

I won't argue that this creates a bigger impact.
I will argue that it isn't easy enough to say in passing.
So, instead I say something like "I appreciate you."

I learned this tip long ago in real estate. It's absolutely gold!

I also add ‘I really appreciate it’ when it really matters to me. Short and simple
