Autons became the first enemy in New Who and they were there at the half-way point in the Season 5 finale. It would have been great to have them in the Christmas Special with River, ten years later. It was all set up too: "I dated an Auton once... swappable head." Like King Hydroflax! That would have been great, so poetic.
The episode we got was still great, but I wanted that so much.

I want to see the return of Alpha Centauri, who always seemed to be on Peladon whenever the Third Doctor visited.
I guess I'd like to see the Doctor visit Peladon again.

Bring back the Ice Warriors. They're such a versatile race and Cold War really wasn't enough to establish them in the new series.
Also, a new incarnation of the Great Intelligence would be really nice. I loved Richard E. Grant, but this character's main ace is that he is living thought and doesn't need a fixed face or personality.
And get Terrance Dicks onboard as a writer. Why the hell hasn't that happened yet?

HOW ABOUT: Peter Harness (Zygon Inva/ersion) does a Sontaran story? He'd be great for it, making Sontarans gritty again, making Strax more than just comic relief. That would be fantastic.

My friend went to NZ and went to some caves in Wellington. He said he heard rumors that Capaldi was there filming for Doctor Who series 10 and the episode he was filming was written by Peter Jackson. I went to NZ too a few days later but I was on the other side of the island :P

There should be a Sontaran two-parter and the cliffhanger of the first part is Strax trying to decide who to fight with, the Doctor or the Sontaran empire.
