thankyou for this video, ive had my brand new 2020 dsr's belt snap within 50 miles, which i found crazy, that it broke being that new, 2 days in riding it, and i hit a small water line access in the road, only a 4 inch wide inch deep hole, going at about 45 mph, but i had throttle on, and no one had warned me of this, but your video, not only makes perfect sense, i just replaced the belt myself, Thanks to your video, i appreciate all your content on zero's and ev's

Great work with the CAD animation to illustrate the swing arm removal!

Just replaced my belt on a FX last week, but the same technique you showed in your "parking lot belt replacement video", that actually helped me a lot - thanks for that, it is so easy if you do it like that - loosen the rear axle is also not neccessary, cause you can just slide the belt, while turning the wheel, under pressure on. I meassured the tension (messurement tool from zero) and it was just fine. This makes changing the belt like a piece of cake. Happy beltsnapping :)

Perfect instructions! I spent some time looking for some belt change guidance just to avoid the trial and error method. Thank You!

Proper guide with a good animation of how belts snap! IIRC some dude in Isreal makes flexible limp-home belts, if the rear wheel is loose anyway this would be a good time to install on of those.

That was a very useful video, thanks. Remember to order a new spare belt now!

First ride of the year today in Ohio ... snapped my belt. I bought a hitch carrier last year, but was too afraid to use it (seemed pretty unstable). I was able to get it home with the carrier, but it was the longest 5 miles of my life. Note to self on the hitch carrier - emergency use only. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare belt waiting, so it will be a week before I can give this a try. Thanks for the great instructions Sam!

Thank you for the detailed explanation.
It is an almost identical procedure on the Zero FXS, with exactly the same tools.
Job done, in less than an hour.
Happy rider once again 😃

Great and helpful video. I know it's just a matter of time, and when that time comes, this is definitely going to be my go-to reference. Thanks, Sam!

Went thru 3 cats before I got one that was sturdy enough.

Thanks, this helped me a lot yesterday!:)
But for my Zero S, it's important to know you need a 24mm Wrench to hold the large nuts at the backside of the short swingarm bolts. And even more important, there is a tiny set screw on the nut itself that you must open before you can loosen the swingarm bolt.

How is it on your bike, no large nut on the backside?

Thanks!

Whaaaat? Just read your comments and you got a second Zero. I’m surprised it isn’t in the video. I assume it’s being shipped or not in your hands yet. Congrats! 00 man. Wasn’t there a 90s anime with a hero called Zero man? I remember 8 man. “Zero man! Battling the gas pump! Sticking it to the oil company! “ 😆

Thank you. I was fearing when this might eventually happen to me and I'd have to do this myself...but no more!

Quite funny thanks!
I changed my belt after 14000 miles. Small rocks and improper (low) tension is hell on the cogs of the belt. I did not need to do the strap thing, but that's a good idea. I remember exactly how. When is your Lightning coming? That should be the cat's meow.

I've been searching for a how-to on adjusting the belt tension (I forgot to take a pic of the tension bolts before I swapped my rear rubber out.)
Any tips? I have the Kriket device already, but the steps in pushing out the rear tension bolts ("adjusters") would be helpful (mine ended up uneven and the belt is misaligned.)

Thanks!
