I solved the equation by firstly factoring the difference of squares and got Then I factored x out of the top and bottom twice and divided both sides by x^2, acknowledging that x^2 cannot = 0. Then I factored the (x^3+1) and the (x^3-1) into (x+1)(x^2-x+1) and (x-1)(x^2+x+1). Then I was able to take out the (x+1)(x-1) from the denominator, additionally acknowledging that x is not = 1 and -1. Now that the denominator is 1, I expanded the numerator into x^4+x^2+1, and subtracted 13 from both sides to get x^4+x^2-12. You can factor this equation using the quadratic pattern into (x^2-3)(x^2+4). Isolate x^2 and take the square root of both sides and I got +/- 2i and +/- sqare root 3. Since we are only solving for real values, the answer is plus or minus sqare root 3.

Simply substract 1 frm both side will give
(X^4 + X^2)*(X^4 - X^2)/ (X^4 - X^2) =12
