34 Weeks Pregnant - What to Expect

Nails are growing at the tips of your baby's fingers and toes this week. Your fingers may be swelling, as edema is a common symptom in the third trimester.

What's new with baby at week 34? Your little one could now be as long as 17 to 18 inches, about the length of a pineapple, and weigh nearly 5 pounds, as much as a bag of sugar, only much sweeter.

Have a baby boy on board? If you do, then this is the week that his testicles are making their way down from his abdomen to their final destination, his scrotum. About 3 to 4 percent of boys are born with undescended testicles, but that's nothing to worry about. They usually make their trip down south before the first birthday.

Whether you're having a boy or a girl, your baby is producing lots of sex hormones, which will explain why the genitals may appear large and swollen at birth. In the case of a little man, that's also why the scrotal skin may appear darkly pigmented in the first few weeks after birth.

In other baby-related news, tiny fingernails have probably reached the tips of those little fingers by this week. And speaking of fingers, are your rings becoming harder and harder to pry off? Mild swelling, also known as edema, is completely normal and is related to the necessary increase in body fluids in pregnancy. You can look forward to your ankles deflating and your fingers depuffing soon after you give birth.

34 weeks as of yesterday with a beautiful little girl, my feet and ankles are swollen as well as my hands. I have lots of trouble sleeping I wake up to pee like 5-6 times through out the night. So I have extreme tiredness during the day. Omg let’s not forget the serious heartburn!
