Woodturning - There's A First Time For Everything !!

If you have watched my channel for a while, you will probably know that one of my favourite wood to turn is Yew. It has so much character and never disappoints. I usually turn natural edge pieces with it and thought it may be cool segmented but with a brick effect to separate the segments.. I used a dyed oak veneer and finished it with Danish oil ..

Now I'm no expert - quite the opposite in fact, but I suspect that the level of skill required to produce this intricate and stunningly beautiful object is pretty well off the scale, particularly as it's done purely by eye without, as far as I can tell, any reliance on mechanical or other outside measuring equipment or guides. I am amazed and I thank you for sharing your skills with us mere mortals.

That is a fantastic piece!!!. I do not think I have ever seen a segmented piece made with Yew before. That was a great idea along with the black veneer in between the Yew pieces. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
