The writers did LeVar Burton so dirty so many times. It's ok to start out with flaws, but over 7 seasons to have no personal growth?

In a future where you can design your perfect person in a holodeck, I'm surprised we don't see MORE people struggling with real romantic interaction. That aspect of the holodeck would be so psychologically damaging.

Funniest part in Aquiel is where she tells Geordie as they're about to use the canar to telepathically link their minds that they'll become closer than two people can ever be, but they just had sex in the tiniest bed imaginable.

The biggest problems when it came to the writing was that the writers had a lot of restrictions placed on them.
There were a lot of times in which they would come up with scripts and the ideas would be completely vetoed because in the future humans have no problems anymore so they don’t have to deal with drama.
Except the writers were told to write drama.

You can see that in the episode with the kid whose mother dies and he’s just completely emotionally stunted as if he’s already accepted his mother‘s death.
Meanwhile, the adults are all torn up over her death more than her son.

It’s still wild to me that there IS an episode where they partnered Geordi up with an old friend who had personal history and good chemistry with… and the writers chose to instead make them purely friends with zero romantic plot line whatsoever while still writing other weird Geordi romance plots.

To me it just seems like an area where Geordi has room for improvement. Makes him feel more human because other than being frustrated with Barclay, he's pretty close to being perfect. But yeah, poor character got the short end of the stick until post-series, where he presumably gets his love life figured out since he has a family. At least he wasn't nearly as bad as Barclay. Geordi didn't _purposely_ create holo-Brahams as a girlfriend, he just kinda fell for her. I think the Aquiel thing was just a victim of being a one-episode appearance, so to have the love interest angle at all it had to be kinda shoehorned in real fast.

How is it that in Star Trek that the arguably "nerdy" character is written as being terrible with women?

I know that there were plans to put him together with Ensign Gomez, but they dumped her after three episodes for no reason. (Shout out to Lower Decks for bringing her back!)

It's clumsy writing but his failed relationships are supposed to underline his love of technology. It's supposed to reinforce the idea he's a lonely tech geek who is more comfortable around technology than people. That's why his best friends are an android and a know it all child genius.
