I actually have a funny story about this song. In the 5th grade, my class had to do a presentation on personification, similes, metaphors, etc. We could choose any song to analyze as long as it was school appropriate.

I chose Animals, and I said that the lyric “But don't deny the animal that comes alive when I'm inside you” was a metaphor, because you can’t become an animal, or go inside someone.

I now understand the full meaning of the song, and know why everyone laughed at my presentation.
