The anterior tibialis muscle sits just on the outer portion of your tibia (shin bone). The muscle helps dorsiflex and invert the foot. People often have shin splints from running/walking on hard surfaces, not having the right shoes, or even bad body mechanics.

This is gold. Just tried this as I've been getting at pains after long walks. I'm doing this before each walk now. Hope it works. Feels like it will so far. Thanks for sharing and yes I was going to mention the possible foot craps when wearing just socks. Will try with boots on soon too. Cheers

Jo! Thank you! I have short leg syndrome with my right leg 2.5 cm shorter. I have agonizing shin pain in that leg. After a year of trying to ease this pain, this is the first thing that gave me ANY relief, and hope for less pain in the future. Many thanks.

Thank you! It’s Nutcracker season and last night was literally the first rehearsal and today I have anterior shin splints on my right side. :( I have a feeling it happened since I was dancing very differently to Completely to avoid pressure on top of my right big toe (cracked toenail).

So when I was in high school and first started track my shins would hurt so bad it felt like the bones would break from doing a light jog at warm ups. I had bumps all along both shins and it hurt to the point that even getting up in the morning hurt. Now I’m a junior in college and I still have the bumps on my shins even though I haven’t actually ran since high school. What do you think I should do?

ive started playing soccer again (after 3 years) and started to feel my legs hurting during and after practice.

my hip would hurt when i ran and the interior part of my shins would hurt whenever they were touched (with some pressure).

ive already taken a few days off of practice (3 weeks until actual season starts, practice is 5 days a week) and I dont want to miss anymore, what should i do?
